VXN Mosaic is a Windows based software product for high performance mosaicking of video frames. VXN can mosaic the video frames in real time without the use
of special hardware. Video frames are mosaicked as fast as they are played from an input source such as a video camera, CD, or DVD player. VXN can also
mosaic frames from MPEG or AVI files.
Aerial video images have an ever increasing role in reconnaissance, target tracking, geospatial mapping and commercial mapping. The small format and narrow field of views can quickly disorient the user or cause loss of context (sometimes called the "soda straw" effect). By mosaicking the images into a large image, situational awareness, screening, and other mapping tasks can be greatly enhanced.
Video mosaicking enables the use of high resolution video while retaining a large field of view like that of a much more expensive sensor. The mosaicked image is high resolution and offers a large field of view, giving the user the benefits of both.
VXN is also excellent for creating overviews of entire video sequences that can be used for thumb nail generation or indexing/review of video sequences.
VXN measures tie points between video frames at very high rates. These tie points are used to understand the motion between frames and serve to map each frame to a common view. These mapping functions are used to stitch together a composite of all the frames.
VXN will also display the frames mosaicked in real time and automatically start roaming the mosaicked image to follow the video as the image becomes larger than the display.
